The condemned Carpenter remained silent before Pontius Pilate, the Perfect of Judea. Frustrated, the Perfect snapped, “Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have the power to crucify You, and power to release You?” (John 19:10)
Pilate committed suicide a few years later. In 1961 a stone was discovered with an inscription referring to Pontius Pilate. The stone originally dedicated to Tiberius the Emperor during Pilate’s governance was then reused in the 4th century to build steps behind the Herodian theatre. People had unknowingly been walking on the Prefect’s stone for centuries.
And the Carpenter…well…………………….
